ABOUT
My name is David Hornbeck, and I've been teaching at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology in Conyers, GA since the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. Before that, I taught at Eastside High School in Covington, GA for seven years. I received my B.S. in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Georgia in 2014, and an Ed.S. in Secondary Education (Learning, Technology, and Curriculum - Math Concentration) from the University of Missouri in 2021. Currently, I am teaching Precalculus, AP Precalculus, and AP Statistics, but I have also taught Accelerated Geometry B/Algebra II, Advanced Finite Mathematics, Analytic Geometry, AP Calculus AB, Geometry, and Statistical Reasoning. I was the sponsor of the Eastside High School math team for 4 years and am now the co-sponsor of the Rockdale Magnet Math Team.

Over ten years of teaching, I've had the pleasure of being named a Teacher of Excellence by the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics, a STAR Teacher in 2018, 2020, and 2024, and a Yale Distinguished Educator in 2017 and 2022. I am a member of the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics and an At-Large Representative of the Georgia Association of AP Math Teachers, and I have been an AP exam reader for five years (four Statistics, one Precalculus).

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, MaryBeth, and son, Cedric, as well as woodworking, playing guitar, and doing crossword puzzles.
